How to use this calculator
Enter your buy price, sale price, share quantity, and commissions on both sides. The result compares the full cash cost of the purchase with net sale proceeds after the entered sell commission.
How the calculation works
Initial cost = buy price × quantity + buy commission. Net sale proceeds = sell price × quantity − sell commission. Profit or loss = net proceeds − initial cost; break-even sale price = (initial cost + sell commission) ÷ quantity.
Worked example
Buying 10 shares at $50 with a $1 buy commission costs $501. Selling at $60 with a $1 sell commission returns $599, for a modeled $98 gain before taxes.
Assumptions and limitations
This estimate includes only the prices and fixed commissions you enter. It excludes taxes, bid-ask spread, slippage, platform charges, and any other transaction costs.

Frequently asked questions
Are taxes included?
No. Tax treatment depends on your circumstances and jurisdiction. The result is a before-tax transaction estimate.
What if my sale price is zero?
The model allows a zero sale price so you can see the loss scenario; the buy price and share quantity must be positive.
