How to use this calculator
Choose whether modeled cash dividends buy additional shares or remain in cash. Share-price growth and dividend yield are separate inputs, so the same dividend is not counted again as price appreciation.
How the calculation works
Each month, the model estimates a cash dividend from the beginning share value and the current dividend-yield assumption. The share price grows independently. Reinvested dividends buy units at the month-end modeled price; otherwise, they accumulate as cash. Monthly contributions buy units at month end.
Worked example
A $10,000 starting portfolio at a 3% initial yield produces $300 of first-year income before any yield growth, price growth, reinvestment, or additional contributions are considered.
Assumptions and limitations
Yield, dividend growth, and price growth stay at the assumptions entered. The model excludes tax, distribution timing details, fund return of capital, market variability, and cash interest when dividends are not reinvested.

Frequently asked questions
Does dividend yield get added to share-price growth?
It is modeled as a separate dividend cash flow. The price-growth assumption only changes the share price, preventing the entered yield from being added twice.
Are dividends guaranteed?
No. A company or fund can change or stop a distribution, and market prices can fall.
