How to use this calculator

Enter an investment amount, share price, annual dividend per share (or annual yield), payment frequency, growth assumption, and projection horizon. Fractional shares are off unless you opt in.

How the calculation works

Estimated shares = investment ÷ share price (or the whole-share count when fractional shares are off). Annual income = shares × annual dividend per share. Monthly equivalent = annual income ÷ 12; estimated payment per scheduled distribution = annual income ÷ payments per year.

Worked example

With $5,000 invested in shares priced at $50 and an annual dividend of $2 per share, the model estimates 100 shares and $200 a year, or $16.67 per month on average. A quarterly payer would distribute about $50 per payment if the payout stayed constant.

Assumptions and limitations

This is a constant-payout scenario, not a forecast. Companies and funds may change, suspend, or omit distributions. Growth is an optional mathematical assumption and does not model share-price changes, reinvestment, taxes, fund return of capital, or actual declaration dates.

Frequently asked questions

Does monthly equivalent mean I receive a payment every month?

No. It divides annual income by 12 for comparison; actual dates and frequency follow the issuer’s distribution schedule.

Are dividends guaranteed?

No. A company or fund can change or stop a distribution.

Does this include taxes or reinvestment?

No. It estimates cash distributions before taxes and does not reinvest them.
